On September 2nd, Dr. HUANG Guiyou, President of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, the United States, visited SDUT. LYU Chuanyi, (Secretary of the Party Committee of SDUT), ZHANG Tiezhu (Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of SDUT), YI Yuchen (Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of SDUT), WEI Xiuting (the member of the Standing Committee of SDUT Party Committee and Vice President of SDUT) met with guests respectively.
In the morning, LYU Chuanyi, YI Yuchen and HUANG Guiyou have a group photo taken to record the occasion in front of the “Friendship Stone” marking the 30th anniversary of the establishment of friendly relations between the two universities. LYU Chuanyi reviewed the history of friendly exchanges between Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and SDUT, and thanked for its long-term support. He hoped that the two sides would carry out further exchanges and cooperation in various fields on the basis of giving full play to respective advantages and characteristics. HUANG Guiyou cordially invited LYU Chuanyi, etc. to visit Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Before taking photos, HUANG Guiyou visited the Da Hong Lu Maker Space and SDUT History Museum to gain a comprehensive understanding of the development history and current situation of SDUT, accompanied by YI Yuchen, heads of the International Cooperation ＆ Exchange Office, etc.
Subsequently, ZHANG Tiezhu, YI Yuchen and HUANG Guiyou held an exchange forum in the conference room on the seventh floor of Hongyuan Building, with the participation of relevant heads of Teaching Affairs' Office, International Cooperation ＆ Exchange Office and School of Foreign Language. ZHANG Tiezhu briefly introduced the basic situation and the main achievements in recent years of SDUT. He hoped that Edinboro University of Pennsylvania would continue to support the development of Shandong University of Technology. HUANG Guiyou introduced the basic situation of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, and sincerely welcomed our teachers and students to visit and study in their school. The two sides had relatively in-depth exchanges and discussions on such issues as mutual visits between teachers and students and ways of running schools in cooperation. They also watched a promotional film introducing the development of SDUT's undertakings.
On the afternoon of September 2nd, WEI Xiuting hosted a forum on the development of higher education between China and the United States in the conference room on the 9th floor of Hongyuan Building. The heads of Teaching Affairs' Office, International Cooperation ＆ Exchange Office and the Deputy heads of schools in charge of teaching and internationalization took part in the forum. At the forum, HUANG Guiyou introduced the basic situation of higher education in the United States and the internationalization of education, and answered the questions raised by the participants. Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, established in 1857, is one of the 14 public universities in the state of Pennsylvania and the largest comprehensive university in the northwest of the state. The school established friendly relationship with SDUT in 1986. It was our first foreign sister school. Over the past 33 years, the two schools have supported each other and treated each other honestly. We have carried out fruitful exchanges and cooperation in the fields of education management, teaching and scientific researches, scholars exchange visits and cultural exchanges, which have had a wide and positive impact. HUANG Guiyou became the 19th president of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania on July 1st, 2019.
