On the morning of Nov. 19, SDUT held a meeting to study the gist of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of CPC in the lecture hall of No.3 Building, in accordance with the arrangements of the Central Government and the requirements of relevant notification from Shandong Province. At the meeting, Deng Yunfeng, Member of the Publicity Group of Provincial Party Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Education Working Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, and Director of the Provincial Education Department and Party Secretary, delivered a report entitled “Gaining Confidence in Socialism, Enhancing Political Consciousness, and Taking the Responsibility of National Rejuvenation.”
School leaders present at the meeting included Lv Chuanyi, Zhang Tiezhu, Hu Xingyu, Liu Guohua, Zhang Xiangyun, Wei Xiuting, Cha Yuxi and Zhang Jinsheng attended the meeting. And Lv Chuanyi presided over the meeting.
Deng Yunfeng interpreted the overall requirements, goals and tasks proposed by the “Plenary Decisions” from four aspects—upholding the socialist system with Chinese characteristics and promoting the modernization of the country’s governance system and governance capacity, making using of the advantages of the socialist system with Chinese characteristics and the national governance system, grasping major decision-making arrangements made by the Fourth Plenary Session, and performing main tasks on education proposed in the Session. The report was thorough, easy to understand, and helped participants deepen their understanding of the gist of the Session by using vivid cases, data and charts.
Lv Chuanyi spoke highly of Deng’s report, concluding that the report adopted a high stance, a proper approach, and was solid, logical, detailed and systematic with both political height and theoretical depth. Lv also thought that its focus fitted in with the aim of higher education and was of great significance to understand the gist of the Session and to promote the actual work. And in order to implement the requirements of deployment and to deepen the study, publicity and implementation of the gist, Lv put forward such suggestions as adopting correct political standing, studying in depth and publicizing the gist, putting the gist into practice in all aspects of the development of the school.
More than 470 people attended the meeting, including the Assistant to the President, leaders at and above the department level, the Secretaries of Party Branches, teachers of political theory, and student representatives.
After the meeting, Deng Yunfeng exchanged views on how to implement the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee with some teachers and students of the university.
