The 6th International China College Students’ “Internet+” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition finals was held at South China University of Technology from November 17th to 19th. After three days of fierce competition, students from SDUT won the national gold medal in the project of Guo Brand Watermelon, which created the best result since SDUT participated in the competition, and achieved a breakthrough of zero gold awards. Only six projects of colleges and universities from Shandong province won the gold awards.

It was reported that this competition was jointly sponsored by 12 ministries and commissions including the Ministry of Education, as well as People's Government of Guangdong Province, and jointly hosted by South China University of Technology, Guangzhou Municipal People's Government and Shenzhen Municipal People's Government. It was a grand pageant of entrepreneurship and innovation of colleges and universities covering all universities in the country, facing all college students and having the greatest impact. With the theme of I dare to and I can produce as the theme, a total of 1.47 million projects and 6.31 million people from 4,186 schools from 117 countries and regions at home and abroad were attracted.
YOU Shouchang, the alumnus, MBA entrepreneurship tutor and general manager of Weifang Guopai Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd., was responsible for the Guo Brand Watermelon project. With science and technology as the guide, advanced technology and equipment as the support, and the well-being of farmers as the goal, the project had established a standardized, systematic, information-based, brand-oriented production and sales mode of agricultural products, realizing the leap forward development of its own sales, and directly driving the economic income of melon farmers. After the implementation of the project, the total output value of Weifang Guopai Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd. reached 185 million yuan in 2019. Up to now, the area directly under the company had grown to more than 667 hectares, with a local base of more than 173.42 hectares, driving more than 400 planters with an average household income of more than 200,000 yuan, and more than 8,000 people employed. It had become a real get-rid-of-poverty melon.
