On the morning of May 20th, SDUT held a ceremony online and offline in the conference room on the ninth floor of Hongyuan Building to establish the Shandong Branch of the National Innovation Institute of Additive Manufacturing and the academic committee of the Mechanical Engineering Discipline Focus and Coordination Center.

LYU Chuanyi, secretary of the Party committee of SDUT, HU Xingyu, deputy secretary of the Party committee and president of SDUT, SU Shoubo, member of the standing committee of Party committee and vice president of SDUT and ZHANG Xudong, a first-level researcher of Zibo Science and Technology Bureau, heads of relevant departments and deans of academic schools attended the offline ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by SU Shoubo.
On behalf of SDUT, LYU Chuanyi congratulated the establishment of the Shandong Branch of the National Innovation Institute of Additive Manufacturing and the academic committee of the Mechanical Engineering Discipline Focus and Coordination Center. He pointed out that discipline construction was the leader of the development of SDUT. SDUT implemented the “strategy of strengthening advantageous disciplines”, established the focus and coordination centers for mechanical engineering and agricultural engineering, gathered human, material and financial resources throughout the school and made great efforts to create the national first-class disciplines. The Shandong branch of the national innovation institute of additive manufacturing was established with the strong support and care of Academician LU Bingheng. Under his leadership, the institute would surely gain new achievements in the field of additive manufacturing and inject new kinetic energy into the development of mechanical engineering. Academicians and experts form the academic committee of the Mechanical Engineering Discipline Focus and Coordination Center must bring new ideas and inject new vitality to the development of the machinery discipline and play a major role in promoting the construction of mechanical engineering.
HUANG Qingxue, LIU Hong, SUN Fengchun, WANG Huaming and ZHAO Ji successively delivered speeches by video, congratulating the establishment and putting forward valuable suggestions on the development of Innovation Institute of Additive Manufacturing, the discipline construction and the training of scientific research team of mechanical engineering.
In his speech, LU Bingheng introduced the development status, the development goals, next key research directions, technology promotion and industrialization, industry development trend and research of the Shandong Branch of the National Innovation Institute of Additive Manufacturing, and made suggestions on the development planning of the additive manufacturing industry chain. He pointed out that the National Innovation Institute of Additive Manufacturing was the only national innovation center in the field of additive materials planned and built under “Made in China 2025”. SDUT had good cases and experience in technology promotion and industrialization and had excellent scientific research teams in mechanical engineering, vehicle engineering and materials engineering. The establishment of Shandong Branch would definitely contribute to promoting the deep integration of industry-university-research cooperation, cracking the development problems of additive manufacturing industry and making due contribution to the development of additive manufacturing industry in Shandong Province and Zibo City.
